You do not need a finished design. You need a reason for the object to exist.
A commission may begin with a marriage, relationship, personal transition, memory, inherited story or belief. Finessu begins by asking what needs to be remembered and what the object should represent.
Research may move through history, mythology, religion, philosophy, psychology and cultural symbolism. Form is developed only after the meaning has been understood.
Meaning → Research → Symbol → Form → Object

04

Proof of process
Meaning is not added after the object. It shapes the object.
Finished commission
Kairo's wedding ring
A one-off wedding ring exploring love, timing, fate and risk. Finessu The Jeweller developed the piece from a private brief, hand-shaped the ring in wax, coordinated casting and worked with a master engraver to bring the final surface language into the object.
The finished ring holds its symbolism quietly: personal enough to belong to one client, resolved enough to stand as an object in its own right.
A considered object requires a considered process.

A strong fit
This process is for you if…
You want the object to express something specific and personal.
You value research and original authorship.
You are open to interpretation rather than directing every visual decision.
You can allow time for considered development and production.
Not the right fit
This process is not for…
Direct copies of another designer's work.
Rush production without concept development.
Requests where price is the only deciding factor.
Projects with no willingness to discuss meaning or purpose.
Questions
Before you begin
Do I need to know what the piece should look like?
No. You may arrive with a person, occasion, inherited material or feeling. The process exists to translate it.
How long does a commission take?
Concept Development normally takes three to six weeks. Production commonly requires another six to sixteen weeks after approval.
Who makes the jewellery?
Finessu leads research, design direction, making decisions, finishing and quality review. Trusted specialists may support CAD, casting, setting or other stages.
Will my story be shared publicly?
Not without agreed permission. A project may be anonymised, limited or kept entirely private.
Begin
Some stories deserve more than an off-the-shelf object.
Tell Finessu what you are marking, what the piece should carry and how you imagine living with it.
